Forty Acres of Pines, Twenty Minutes from the Beach

A family-owned campground in the middle of Brunswick County, built by people who sold the house, moved into a fifth wheel for a year, and came home knowing exactly what they wanted to make. Thirty full-hookup sites, eight cabins, and a week's worth of reasons not to get back in the car.

Two-night minimum · two-week maximum · open year-round. Booking runs through NewBook — deep-linked by stay type, so a guest lands on what they picked.

Things to Do

Six hours of things to do that don't involve you

Every cabin and most of the sites look onto the common area, so you can sit down with a coffee and still see everybody. That is the whole design.

The pool — shallow at both ends

Which is the detail parents of small swimmers keep writing about. Loungers, shade, the bathhouse a few steps away and the pines right behind it.

  • Gem & fossil mining sluice open daily 9–5 — public welcome
  • Live music, fourth Saturday, 6–8 PM, May through October
  • Llama trekking with SundMist Pastures — book ahead

An easy walk through the pines with a llama beside you. Vicki from SundMist guides it and stops at the hidden pond.

Twenty acres of trails

Mown grass paths through undeveloped pine woods. Morning runs, dog walks, bikes.

A kinder, gentler dodgeball, and the reason nobody comes back to the site until dinner.

Somewhere to land

Cedar walls, vaulted ceilings, and a porch. Eight cabins, no two the same.

Our Story

We sold the house, bought a fifth wheel, and went looking for this

After ten years of running franchises and five years in our first home, we sold it all and moved into a fifth wheel full-time with our two girls and two dogs. We'd never really camped before. We dove in headfirst.

A year on the road later we knew what a campground was supposed to feel like — so we came home to North Carolina and built one. You'll find us here most days, because this is also where we live.

Google review

Fourteen of the guest reviews we read mention how clean this place is, and more of them name the bathhouse than any other building on the property. The current website never uses the word.

Four campgrounds within twenty-five miles sit closer to the sand than we do. None of them has forty acres of pine woods, a gem-mining sluice and a llama. That's the trade, and we think it's the better one.
